OriginsA New Refining Era on the Black Sea

Georgia, beneath the Caucasus, has for centuries been the crossroads between the Caspian and the Black Sea. With the rise of the Kulevi refinery on its Black Sea coast, this historic transit country gained its first domestic refining capability: Black Sea Petroleum (BSP) — built on Honeywell core process technology, with approximately USD 700 million invested and a capacity of 1.2 million tonnes a year — is turning Georgia into a key refining hub between Caspian crude and European markets. The source now had quality products; the world needed a bridge.

FoundingA Team in Tbilisi

In early 2025, VM Zholo was registered in Tbilisi. Its founding team blends Georgian and Chinese professionals with years of experience in the country’s oil products trade — a team that knows every berth on the Black Sea and understands every requirement of Asian customers. East meets West: this multicultural DNA has been written into VM Zholo’s identity from day one.

Through deep understanding of refinery operations and a rigorous track record, VM Zholo was officially mandated by BSP as its exclusive tier-1 agent for naphtha, alongside trading coverage of fuel oil, HS gas oil, bitumen and the full product slate. This is more than a contract — it is the source’s endorsement of professional capability: traceable mandate, verifiable quality, stable supply. Under current plans, the first naphtha cargo leaves Kulevi port in Q4 2026, with a monthly capacity of 30,000 tonnes; in 2027, the start-up of BSP’s bitumen line will extend the portfolio further.
